These last two losses are on Hurdle. Our newly-minted All Star middle reliever has five pitches, and Melancon hasn't even touched the field because they're apparently more worried about getting him save opportunities than winning ballgames. I know he was a closer in the past, but you can't be trotting out Ernesto "Reclamation Project With a 19+ ERA" Frieri in the bottom of the 9th of a tied ballgame against your division rivals and expect anything good to come of it.

as for the stadium here is a tip. a bike messenger bag with a secret pocket or flap can sneak in up to almost six beers in cans. if you go into the game through the diamond pizza place on 7th street they also won't check you very well. much cheaper because i like to drink 3-4 beers (and i only like IPAs) and have a hot dog during a game and that shyt gets $$$$ very quickly.

Rumors:

• An NL GM told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe that he thinks the Cardinals, Pirates,Dodgers and Mariners are the primary suitors for Lester heading into Wednesday (Twitter link).

Talks between the Phillies and Pirates regarding A.J. Burnett are “all but dead,” writes Stark.

The Pirates remain on the lookout for a left-handed reliever, reports Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Pittsburgh has been rumored to have interest in severable available southpaws, including Antonio b*stardo of the Phillies and Andrew Miller of the Red Sox.

If the Pirates can’t land a reliever this week, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review suggests that the Bucs could move Edinson Volquez to the bullpen. Volquez, who has hit 98 mph on the gun this season, has been trending down since April. More from the Central Divisions..

The Pirates are believed to have interest in Rockies closer LaTroy Hawkins, according to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding. The Rockies do not want to move him though.
