As
Pitchfork points out, Sky Ferreira and DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith were arrested in Saugerties, New York early Saturday morning. As
reported in the blotter of Hudson Valley newspaper the Daily Freeman, Smith was found with “a plastic bag containing 42 decks of heroin” and Ferreira “was found in possession of Ecstasy and resisted arrest” after a traffic stop.
Smith was driving a 1990 Ford pickup and was stopped after making several “traffic infractions.” Later, the Daily Freeman reports, “police said a registration check showed the license plates on the truck were stolen and the driver, Smith, was wanted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding vehicle and traffic warrant.” Smith was charged with misdemeanors, “two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of aggravated unlicensed driving.” He was additionally charged with: “unregistered motor vehicle, driving without insurance, unlicensed driver, and having an inadequate exhaust system.” Ferreira was charged for “criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.”
Smith and Ferreira were taken to Ulster Country jail then released on bail—$2,500 for Smith and $1,500 for Ferreira. Later that evening, DIIV played BasillicaSoundScape. Ferreira joined them for a cover of Cat Power’s 1997 track “Nude as the News.”
