I've worked for the government before, and its well known that getting fired is damn near impossible. I've also worked for private companies, accountability is WAY higher. Why is this? Well, if you were in the government, why the hell would you fire "your own kind"? Especially if there is no money to lose.

The government by definition wastes insane amounts of money. They NEVER make a profit. They NEVER intend to make a profit. Therefore, why would you improve the system that protects you?

A private company has to look out for profits and government regulation. Profits are not evil. Profits are NECESSARY. Without profits, THERE WOULD BE NO TAX MONEY FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO WASTE. Without profits, there is no way to pay respectable wages to hard working people.
Imagine if every corporation acted like the government. The boards/CEO's would ALL BE IN JAIL. The government won't prosecute its own people though. Its a good ole boy system.

Ok, sorry for the rant. I'm sitting in a political science class right now.

What dream world do you live in?

govt's gonna govt. :troll:

Believe it or not, I actually agree with you. I know that sounds surprising coming from someone who argues in favor of government, but I do agree nonetheless. A government MUST have a working system of check and balances, and most importantly, must be bent at the will of the people. I think it's best to realize on issues like this, progressives and libertarians share common bonds, and that things like this occur due to the overwhelming centrist and moderate voting population that allows this to occur.

Need I point out the examples of nation-states with "big" governments that have very strict limitations on abuse of civil liberties? I don't think I need to. Need I point out that a some of these police abuses happen in states led by Conservatives and in Conservative communities? I don't think I need to.

I know police are supposed to shoot if they feel they're in immediate danger
and they only shoot to kill but WTF ?
There is no excuse for basically walking into a dudes garage
and just lighting him up.
Seems less like a mistake and more like straight up murder.
Even worse they put the idiots back on the streets.

:mjpls:
I'll say this though, the widow in question is lucky her husband isn't
Black, I bet the recounting of events from the two officers in question
would've been even more ridiculous.

Almost happened to me once. My license plate had the exact same letters and numbers as a stolen vehicle, except I had a T instead of an I. I was followed into my driveway, they pulled their guns on me and made me get on the ground. No fukks were given when they realized their mistake. There's no accountability for cops. Are they ever convicted for any injustice they commit?
