The fact is, feminism is very vocal nowadays and it makes sense that Hollywood is trying to make money off of it. They're a business.
They weren't arbitrarily making all women's remakes before now, and it's because feminism wasn't making so much noise then.
So they are absolutely capitalizing on something. Let's not be naive here.
And I don't think it's naive to say that's not the sole reason homie. I'm not disageeeing with your premise but I'm also saying it's not as clear cut as that and it's not binary. Is that one of several reasons? Sure. But there's also Clooney, and them reviving one of their most successful franchises which has a name on it, and the flack the town has caught over the past few years with regards to the lack of roles for women not named Meryl Streep and of course the opportunity to have a great cast and a good director at the helm. There's layers to the onion
