Ghostbusters is almost certainly not going to be a hit. Now look obviously Oceans movies are different but I do have to disagree with your tone when it comes to to nerd culture.I'm saying that they can't worry about a vocal minority online being upset that girls are playing with their toys. Because that's where the major complaints are coming from. You can't back down to every single complaint especially when the complaint amounts to :"Ew girls, yucky!" You gotta stand for something every now and then and backing down to chauvinistic misogynist who want to knock something sight unseen all because it has women in it isn't the business in my mind.
I say all that with complete realization that it depends on Ghostbusters. If it's a hit, then this shyt will go on full steam ahead. If it's not, then it will be tabled

What Sony is doing to ghostbusters the fans have an absolute right to complain. The movie came out 30 years ago. It's the fans that bought all the merch, video games, etc.
It's the fans that have continued to support and sustain the culture. So when the fans have been begging for decades for another flick and they get this bullshyt they should complain.
Why couldn't they have just done an action comedy with all women?
Plus you have the fact that a lot of dudes just don't think women are as funny as male comics.
Idk man I just disagree. Had they done an action comedy with all women about something else no one would care. It's almost certainly not going to be a hit because of the internet? Well you and i disagree on that then because i know plenty of people who are interested in it and don't give a shyt about what males on the internet have to say. Also, there are new fans man. You don't have to just rely on the fans who have been fans. There are always new people, new kids, etc who have no connection to it but may want to see it because they're into it.
And to your last point, again, who cares? Yeah a lot of dudes feel that way, but a lot of people, especially women, probably don't feel that way at all. Spy was a hit, as was Bridesmaids, as was trainwreck and no one came away from those saying "man women just aren't funny" They've proved they can command an audience and be hits by appealing to more than just dudes. Especially since, again, women outnumber us in the world lol. They're 51% of the population and outspend men on consumer goods, including movies. To appeal to one demographic who feels like "well, they just aren't funny"...those people weren't going to see the movie anyway so why even waste your time?

What they're doing is shytting on the fans. Plus the trailers just look horrible. But we'll see. I think it'll flop
Just disagree. With out the fans there is no property to even make the movie about. They've read and seen everything related to the reboot and they hate it.They're shytting on the fans because of what though? Because women are in it? Now if you think the movie doesn't look good, cool but they aren't shytting on the fans. Fans are mostly mad, and you can check the history on our own board or any message board or comment section or youtube, all because of the women. That's the main complaint. How the trailer looks or plays is normally secondary to "Ew, girls, yucky" that's always number one with a bullet. Paul Feig and his team, which includes Dan Akroyd, didn't seem to go into this thing with the intentions of making a bad movie or pissing fans off. Fans were immediately turned off the minute the movie was announced because it said "all women cast" and it was downhill from there. If you can show me something to prove me wrong, cool, I'll cop to that, but how are they shytting on nerd culture or fans by having the audacity to do a gender substitute? As if everything ghostbusters related since '84 has been gold and above reproach.

Doesn't matter if you or I don't think everything about GB is great.
And they are shytting on them by continuing to go at them. 6 months ago Sony should have instructed the cast to not say anything about the fans
Oh definitely threats and the like should be called out. Maybe not with this interview but there have been others that seems more "we don't give a fukk if y'all dont like this" and when you're doing a movie using this type of property I can't rock with youBut here's the rub homie: They're saying things about the fans who are sending them death threats on twitter or being straight up sexist. If neither one of those categories fit you or me or any other fan, then you aren't being shytted on. Asking someone to not respond to someone telling them they hope they die or saying horrible things about them because of their gender, is asking a whole lot. I'm not mad at them for defending themselves because I know I'd want to and it'd be hard for me to keep my mouth shut if someone disrespected me all because of my gender or race and immediately told me that I'm inferior because of those things. Fukk that. I'm a fan and I don't feel insulted. Why? Because I'm not in either one of those aforementioned categories
