as a canadian, i have a real love/hate relationship with your politics.

it's about 7.6 billion times more entertaining than ours...but too often it's also so frighteningly stupid and mind-bogglingly ridiculous that i just wanna laugh and cry at the same time.

At least we don't tip toe around the French and have a secessionist party.

Between this dude, Eric Cantor, and Harry Reid we might have the stupidest example of leadership in the Capitol yet.

Being a professor and a civil rights attorney aren't real jobs?

if you're black, no. because, of course he got the jobs due to being black and not as a reward for any merit he displayed. that makes the jobs illegitimate, which means he's never held a REAL job.

what the hell is a community organizer anyway? As much as I hate republicans, I think it's obvious that Obama doesn't understand the private sector.
All of Obama's work experience other than State Senator, Senator and President has been in the private sector.

What you meant to say was the for-profit sector.

The private sector is basically the bloodline of the country...the President having hands on experience with the PS is crucial...and Obama doesnt really have that...

Crucial to what? He's re-applying for a government job.

What is the private sector? Walmart is the private sector, does working at Walmart count? If you've ever bought a jar of peanut butter then you have hands on experience in the private sector.

Goal of Government = providing for the welfare (in the classic sense) of citizens. Goal of Private Enterprise = obtaining profits for shareholders....which one of these experiences sounds more like the job of the president?

This new republican talking point that government employees live on another planet is completely retarded. Its just a job. Everyone goes home to the same neighborhoods at night.

I'm a contractor for a private company that gets 98% of its revenue from the Federal Government...is that the private sector? Did dikk Cheney ever work in the private sector when he was lobbying to secure tax dollars for various war profiteers...

Making decisions based on numbers and logic is generally what higher level positive private sector workers do. Government workers dont have a bottom line.

Without the private sector the public sector doesnt exist. The government cant pay for itself as we see with the private sector currently struggling. Cops, teachers, etc are being let go everywhere...A thriving private sector means everybody wins. Obama thinks the private sector is doing fine, I disagree.

They absolutely do. Government funds aren't infinite. Watch the news. Congress puts out a budget every single year that dictates how much every single department agency and subprogram gets to spend. State and Local govs do the same thing. A lot of the money is accounted years in advance...

Generally agree with the bolded but "thriving" can mean different things. The private sector is doing fine for the folks that own it. The market is up and corporate profits are at an all time high.
Bankruptcies drop as company profits soar

The problem of the last 30 years has been with how to get non-owners to see the benefits of the private sector's success. The private sector has no obligation to keep Americans employed. They tried to sell folks on the bullshyt idea the 401Ks and home ownership made every person an "owner" but that turned out to be false too. That just makes you a pawn when shyt goes bad...
