You don’t even have to let Kai get fukked up. You could have Kai be the last entrant, let her clean house, then do the turn without her getting whipped.
Hell, Shayna for all her dikkheadedness was the only one telling Rhea to let Dakota on the team in the first place.
If you don't get Dakota's inbuilt issues with Tegan, then all I can say is, you're trying not to see it. It made sense, to the point where most of us literally knew it was happening here, just not when.

Roddy Strong literally turned at the end of a match while still getting an ass whooping. Not only that, but he could’ve been a champion without it being given to him after taking a beating.
Because Tegan just went along with being part of the team and didn't go and console her teammate when she was left out of the team.
