To be fair, this episode proved that there is so, so much that can be done with a good vignette made of half old footage compiled to prove the point you're making, and half interview to further push said point.
People can run the AEW vs WWE shyt all they want and gangbang the shyt like they really out here catching bodies over one company or another, but really the lesson should be that, if certain elements were removed and people were allowed to do what they are able to do, there is no company in the world that could really compete with the WWE, but they are the biggest example of a frontrunning company getting in their own way I've ever seen in my life. The Gargano/Ciampa package was 24/7 or 30 for 30 quality shyt. It was quality fukking storytelling as far as recaps can go. And that's been the story of NXT since the post-Bray Wyatt days: proof of what WWE is capable of, and proof that there's no point in giving the company any of your money. It's like going to a fast food place afterhours and seeing what can be produced if they slowed down, gave a shyt, and most importantly: gave a shyt. You'd be surprised what can happen when you cool with a worked-their-way-up-to-manager fast-food worker; fukk around and roll one up after close and come back to food that actually looks how it looks on the commercial.
That's the problem. NXT this week was 3 extended vignettes about the top 3 matches they're building to coming up. And it was 10x as compelling as Smackdown and 100x as compelling as Raw.
Wednesday has become to bastion for wrestling for people who actually like pro-wrestling but maybe aren't fans of sports entertainment, and I'm happy that's happened. I just wish that it was a Wedsnday/Thursday situation instead of direct competition. Because I'd gladly watch NXT and AEW over two days instead of RAW/SD... ever.
