I dont know but put Rock and Kevin Hart in it and it’s a guaranteed $840M at minimum
It's already coming out in 2022 and it's being made by Illumination.
Super Mario Bros.: The Movie (2022) - IMDb
The ONLY way I'd be okay with a live action version is if they pulled an Osmosis Jones and split the storyline between live action and animation. You can use the real world as a setup before bringing the characters into a cartoon world where all the real crazy stuff happens, but having the characters eating mushrooms and doing triple backflips in live action would be way too ridiculous. We don't want another disaster like that first live action movie.anyone who keeps asking for a live action version should be shot

If they make a Mario movie, they could incorporate the Brooklyn backstory they had in the show. Mario and Luigi are plumbers in Brooklyn that take on jobs all over the city. One day, they find a magic pipe that transports them to the mushroom kingdom.
In the real world, everything is live action with real people, but the mushroom kingdom is a cartoon world where everything animated. In the mushroom kingdom, Mario and Luigi aren’t played by real people— they look cartoony like in the games. This is where they could start bringing in the power ups and the action were all familiar with from the OG games.
For the post credits scene, flashback hundreds of years. An ancient temple looms in the distance. Cut to the inside of the temple. The door slowly opens... and Link shows up.
