Now that GTA 6 is coming out fr now, it's okay to admit GTA V is one of the greatest video games of all-time.

Since 2013, for ten years, no other open world game has been able to match the "life" this game has.

Either the online (which I play weekly) or the story mode.

The game so good, people are holding a ten year old game to modern gaming standards.

This bih came out on the damn 360 and PS3 (right at the end of the PS2's life). I bought a brand new 360 in Gamestop for my college graduation present. That's how long it's been.

Even with it's dated mechanics, there's no other game matching it. They dropped three different Saints Rows in that time

For all it's faults; one of the GOATs.
🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿🖕🏿 fukk you. You’re one of the reasons it took us forever to get GTA 6 in the first place

That being said you are correct it is one of the GOAT games

No one even talks about V, outside of online.

Series peaked with San Andreas.

Once they started to have good gfx it wasn’t the same.
Story fell way the fukk off by v. I still dont know who the main Antagonist was supposed to be, so the plot just felt like shyt just happening till it ended :manny:

I dont have much confidence that the writing will be much better in vi, but I feel like the gameplay will be the best in the series. One thing about it, the controls have improved for the most part with each release.

They fukk up one or two things here and there but we can at least look at iii and v and see some progression and qol improvements.

I feel like gta has had an identity crisis since San andreas. It was at its best when it had a decade to theme itself after. Using movies, music, historical events, and urban legends to have a cultural boundary to provide structure. III was revolutionary for its gameplay and world design, but vice city and San andreas stepped everything up and made the series what it was in the 3d era. Once it got to iv, they thought going serious and making the physics more realistic was the way to go. It was cool for what it was, but the execution wasn't 100%. Instead of staying consistent and tweaking that approach, they did a conplete 180° with v and leaned into over the top action at the expense of telling a compelling story. Then online mode completely killed the single player story once it made rockstar a shyt ton more money.

I'm hoping vi is able to finally strike a balance between online and single player story. Have gameplay that isn't too arcadey or too sluggish. More interiors to enter. Etc.

But either way, this game is gonna sell a lot. Probably instantly become the best selling game of all time. I just hope rockstar's greed doesn't screw what should be a quality game after the hype wears off. It's been over a decade. That's plenty of time for them to have learned their lesson and made things right. But the question still remains whether they have or have not

Story fell way the fukk off by v.

Aight. I deleted the rest of your shyt and I'm just gonna quote this and RE-ADD my two pieces for some of the weirdo cats that acted like I wanted to be contrarian for spite. GTA 5 STORY WUZ ASS CHEEKS. That's it. I mean, the motherfukkers in here who was dapping anyone coming against me with this notion could not either defend or honestly say that they played the campaign AGAIN or had a hankering to ALL THIS fukkING TIME it's been masquerading as a reanimated corpse through it's online mode.

Like seriously, did you feel the need to replay this like you did a Vice City, A San Andreas? For me, personally GTA 3 is a game I must replay every couple of years off the strength of the nostalgia it gives from when I first played it back in highschool. Then I go in order GTA 3, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, Vice City, San Andreas then 4, Lost and Damned, Ballad of Gay Tony then I just cycle on through Saint's Row 'cause 5's single player never moved the needle for me to want to EVER relieve any of that shyt past experiencing it once.

The radio stations was ass. Michael was cool when doing the 'lost glory' side missions that had you relieving his jock days, but outside of that his story arc was middle aged suburbia cuck fodder, ASS. Trevor was an edgy Cac Meme wrapped in Breaking Bad cutting room floor material that only shined when he was bouncing off Franklin/Lamar. And don't get me started on fukking Franklin's constantly whining ass. If it wern't for the heists and the robbery aspects, I'd honestly forget the shyt exists until shown a picture.
Not to mention the shyt wasn't funny. When I saw what the writing team did with Max Payne 3 I was on high alert, because lowkey a bunch of writers were already leaving and by the time it came to fleshing out 5's story, all the folk that gave you the in game lore, commentary on what's happening socially within the city and globably within the world, wasn't as rockstar edgy or tongue in cheek, Even if they adhered more to a more adult, real life modern setting with the graphical capabilities, the story and world within it never really grew in charm like past models and the whole thing just felt like a beautiful chore you'd play once until you shelved it.
I hope 6 restores the feeling or at the very least, give us side shyt/world building activities worth a damn, with an actual fighting system reminiscent of what we had in 4 but lost completely in 5. I mean it's not like I WANT the shyt to fail, but 5 compared to the rest just wasn't..it to me.
