'Traffic' is what 'Crash' wanted to be, imo, insightful, illuminating, compelling, eye opening, provocative, 'Crash' was kind of Hollywood bullshyt, the multiple story lines in 'Traffic' didn't try for cute little coincidences that strained credibility, they just exposed common threads in the drug war, and how it affects so many different aspects of life. So many great things to be said about 'Traffic', 'Crash' had very good acting, but ultimately, the movie doesn't really hold up, at least to the degree it is championed as being.
