This was the first Snoop Dogg album I bought

I was seeking a Snoop Dogg album after having discovered him via Dr Dre's work... I was 8 years old, and I just seen the Up and Smoke tour

It was my impression at this time that aside from the song "Lay Low" that the album was filled with filler I also had like the Dr. Dre voice message track so like kind of made me feel like these guys aren't really that close are they
But now my favorite track on that album is the Suga Free one

But me hearing this album deep cut will be the first time rehearing it after dismissing the album as mostly filler when I was 8 years old

It's worth nothing the less impactful deep cuts of our legends tends to be of higher creative merit and listening value than any (or most) non-Flint rap these days

Is that Kokane or George Clinton on the chorus?

Sooopafly or Daz on the track?

shyt's dope ... Am wondering to what extent we will have to reassess Snoop's catalog. You seem to evaluate his discography based on a standard set by the Doggystyle album rather than the quality standard of the music today

check em out

classic west coast.
mandatory west coast albums tbh
dope raps.
some of the best production to ever come from cali.
cant go wrong with djbattlecat. fredwreck & meechy

You got anymore (not so obvious) west coast classic albums?

I’ve always neglected them in general tbh

I’m up on 2pac, Dre, xzibit, KL, ice cube, etc, all the obvious ones

For example, I’ve never really listened to tha liks (like album wise…)

cus this what i grew up on
bring it on. yall gon miss me. brake fluid.
Like blue carpet, I remember I was moving house, so never had internet (to D/l lol), then ended up buying the CD at a market and being surprised how fire it was, I always associate snoop with great singles and keeping himself relevant, but I was surprised how great BCT was.

i loved this album SO MUCH. i was so happy for Snoop with the little "resurrection" with it too...and yes, production was clean as shyt.

and if we are being honest, Snoop's consecutive album run in the first half of the 2000s was phenomenal.

Leave Me Alone came up on my shuffle the other day and it literally had me:wow:....Played that joint back 3 times

With that said LTM def a classic imo, obviously Doggystyle is GOAT status but this was Snoop at his best if you ask me....

Also, any Snoop tracks I hear Kokane on I love lol

I done some googling recently and it kinda explained why he ain’t bigger, shame cos he’s obviously talented.

Kokane is a underground legend his style tooo foinkkyyy for the average rap fan tbh....Plus he's one of those artist whose at his best in a group or featuring, check out his work with Above The Law....And that album he dropped a few yrs ago with Suga Free SUGAKANE low key got some bangerss too...
