Unfortunately the media still covers this like it’s the 90s and he could go anywhere. Them days are over. Then you add in the soft GM era these teams are scared to force players so the players can do whatever they want. So S&T makes sense for BOTH sides. Get something in return.
That's my point about Harden. He opted in to his contract so it kills the chance for a sign and trade and him getting a long term contract. I was thinkin gat his age that would've been his top priority.

Why would Harden opt in considering he's a free agent unless he already knows his preferred destination and they have a trade target in mind?
I dont get it either. Why not just opt out and take the rumored Houston deal. Maybe the Houston thing was a smokescreen all along. The thing is Philly has to get adequate value in return. My guess is the teams he wants to go to dont have cap space to sign him. And this allows the Sixers to get value back instead of losing him for nothing.
