USING CURRENT PLAYERS IN THESE LISTS IS A DISSERVICE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED.

IF WE COME BACK 8 YRS FROM NOW,
AND KD HAS NO RINGS...
HE WOULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS JUST ANOTHER NICE SCORER.

FOR EXAMPLE....
ADRIAN DANTLEY AVERAGED 30PPG ON 57% SHOOTING DURING HIS 7 YRS IN UTAH.
HE GOT SHIPPED OUT OF DETROIT RIGHT BEFORE THEY WON THEIR RINGS,
SO HISTORY HASNT TREATED HIM WELL.

THEY NEED TO LET THESE DUDES CAREERS PLAY OUT.

True, i feel you but theres some "AH but he was THE MAN! :krs:" bias to FAVOR dominique wilkins for certain. You can't tell me that he deserves to be on that list over paul pierce or melo. Melo is basically a much more rounded version of nique

No Pierce in the Top 10 and KD at 4 and you want me to take these lists seriously. :mjlol:

LeBron really is no. 1 all time though, easily.

Im tired of seeing Pippen get disrespected like he was only MJ's sidekick. He was a MVP candidate the year MJ decided to take his basketball and go home. He's Top 5 period. I'm a fan of Durant and all, but #4 is extremely high at this point of his career and you have to put Melo on the list as well.

LeBron & Bird for #1 is debatable, but I'll give the edge to LeBron just because he's the greatest player I ever seen play at the SF position.

Was just gonna say this exact thing...we look at KD and rate him so high because we're seeing him play in the moment. But if he retired today in 15-20 years no one would remember much about him outside of he was the guy who could score really well and won 1 MVP. Is that much different from Nique minus the MVP? Or a bunch of other elite scorers throughout history who never won much. No matter what anyone says titles in the NBA matter and they matter a lot.....there is zero chance you put KD above Pippen if he wasnt currently playing.

Oh, and Scottie Pippen is the most overrated NBA player of all time and no player has benefited more from the Jordan effect than he has. I don't believe KD should be at 4 but quite frankly, he is better than Pippen. If Pippen didn't have the luxury of playing with MJ who gifted him his 6 rings he'd be remembered as a rich man's Andre Iguodala. Dead serious.

:whoa: I wouldn't go that far. He's not better than KD, but that's a little too harsh.

I hear what you're saying and agree for the most part, but if KD remains relatively injury-free for the next eight years, he'll finish in the top 5 in all-time scoring - with a realistic chance of surpassing Malone - that's more than just "another nice scorer". He won't need ANY rings to potentially finish #2 behind LeBron on a list like this either.

What's harsh about it? Pippen and Iguodala are very similar players. Jack of all trades, master of none types offensively. Can score in spurts, are very good playmakers at the 3 spot, and are physically built, explosive athletes who can grab a lot of rebounds and aren't afraid to dunk all over you. Also both are great man defenders. But neither are good enough to be a no.1 option and lead a team, because while they're great at lots of things offensively they aren't exceptional at any 1 aspect. Both tried, and failed.

Check out prime Iguodala's stats and some of Scottie's years and tell me you don't see similarities. Pippen just did it longer and more consistently, with slightly better output in pts/rbs/asts/fg%. Hence, Pippen simply being a rich man's Iggy.

It's so premature to say this though, especially with his injury issues

and no, he certainly doesn't pass Bird with no rings in a historical sense

What if he resigns this summer with OKC and Russ bounces on him the next summer? That would be a stretch of likely first round exits for him

Just saying, it's too early for him to be crowned

and if Melo stays healthy for 5 more seasons he has a chance at 30,000 and passing Dr. J

Where do you put him then?

For what it's worth I lean towards more of 360Waves opinion.

Not that I think Pippen is all-time overrated, but he definitely wouldn't have been KD level by himself. So the fact that he played great alongside Jordan, for me, doesn't make him better than KD. MJ being so great was the ultimate confidence builder and allowed Scottie to play freely.

Y'all keep bringing up those 1 1/2 years he played w/o Jordan. He averaged 22ppg, 8rebs, 5 assist, 3 steals. Those are really good numbers, very good actually.....but KD has had a season of 28ppg, 8rebs, 4 assists.

Again, Pip gets the nod in defense, but much of his appeal comes of being next to Jordan.
