I watch the news and all I hear is how China should somehow do something about this. What is it with the west and its inability to view things from a different perspective?
N Korea is a Chinese vassal state/military barracks. How is this so called 2 bit country that has been so isolated capable of such technological know how? Maybe the Chinese are offering it to them. You sail one of your warships near their base and suddenly the N Koreans are dropping ICBMs

Trump wants to get tough on NK but its obvious he don't want those problems. Any war with NK will end with a nuclear strike in my opinion. Diplomacy is needed at this point because that regime is not going down without a fight.

As far as the thought of nuclear war with North Korea impacting the US mainland, its not coming anytime soon.

So North Korea has achieved two of the three needed steps to have a device that will threaten the US. They got a delivery system and the explosive device. However the hardest of those steps is miniaturization. Being able to construct a device small enough to fit on the ICBM. They are decade or more away from this step if the "experts" are to be believed.

There is a reason why they have a lot of underground or ground level tests. Their current devices required a train to carry it to an underground bunker to be detonated. Not anywhere close to one that can fit on a rocket.
