Asude from Trump's incompetence and his desperation to change the media narrative, I don't see how talking to NK in order to deescalate tensions is a bad thing.

Because if two hot heads meet for peace talks it could easily go off the rails.
Nothing wrong with conversation, even with an idiot like Trump in charge. We shouldn't automatically demonize the other side.
Kennedy averted the Cuban missile crisis by talking. Nixon with China and Raegan with the Soviets. Obama temporarily deescalated the situation with Iran temporarily by engaging the Iranians.
As a black man in America, I can never buy into the demonization of "others" by the U.S government. Just look at our most recent debacles in Iraq, Syria and Libya .
We can go back decades into the U.S imperialist treachery in the continent.
