Allow to me briefly touch on a couple of threads being mentioned :
1) You should not only abstain from porn but from all sex to see benefits.
I disagree with this line of thinking. The goal is to have a healthy relationship with regards to sex and a well-balanced mind. Constant new porn (and thus repeated dopamine spikes) facilitated by online porn wreaks havoc on our dopamine receptors. Conversely, real sex helps get men in the practice of enjoying sex without fukking like a jackhammer or needing to imagine porn to climax, two common signs of porn abuse.
2) I haven't jerked off in a couple of weeks and I'm not feeling any benefit
First, as others have mentioned, the main culprit is porn. If you're not whacking it but are still looking at porn, you're still getting those "unnatural" dopamine spikes and teaching your brain to seek rewards by unproductive or destructive means.
Also, 2 weeks isn't much. Your brain didn't get accustomed to porn overnight nor will you rid yourself of it's adverse effects in a few days. How often do we see fat people give up on their workout plan after a couple of weeks because it's "not working"?
Again give it 45 days porn free. Then, look back at those 45 days and take stock at what you've accomplished. If nothing then fine, you win. But what do you have to lose? It's not like you're addicted.
