I don't know why people forget about Wayne's career pre-The Carter series, but I think some good material is being overlooked, particularly his first album. For me personally, I was a CMR fan before the Universal deal and I always knew how dope Wayne was, especially at such a young age. This was before Wayne cussed on albums (although he did a little bit on here, mainly 'fukk the World') and he was just cold with it. Some might say he wasn't good then, but I think this is arguably some of Wayne's best material.

Yeah Solja Rags was nice and I would probably listen to it over Tha Block Is Hot, but I don't know if I would call it better. Those Big Tymers albums were dope. Mannie can actually rap and is witty, and Baby wasn't that bad back then either.

My block hot, whoadie. my block burn. my block on fire, whoadie. what about yerns.

But really, I always knew he had the spark, but didn't REALLY become a fan until Lights Out.

I liked a few tracks off Lights Out, but I thought he rushed that album after Tha Block Is Hot. That Grown Man was my shyt though. :wow:
