They could easily make a robot that does the clamp part that you can control remotely, lazy ass CEOs just don't want to invest in that shyt

Yeah, I am kind of an expert on this having watched 5 seasons of this show, could probably run my own rig if I re-watched them. :troll:

These are really big operations, making the connection as you drill down is one very small part. The pipe is just laid out on the ground next to the derrick and that has to be brought into position and then can be connected as you see them doing. Invariably, the drill they are using breaks and then they need to pull out thousands of feet of pipe they just put in the ground, replace the bit and do it all over again until they reach the depth they are looking. :skip:

shyt it is always breaking down and needing to be replaced.

Oil derrick worker clocks in at #3 most dangerous jobs in us

3. Derrick operators in oil, gas, and mining

BLS Category: Derrick, rotary drill, and service unit operators, oil, gas, and mining
Fatal injury rate: 46 per 100,000 workers
Total deaths (2018): 20
Salary: $51,390
Most common fatal accidents: Transportation incidents, contact with objects and equipment (nice way of saying being crushed to death)

These oil workers setup, maintain, and operate the derrick and drill equipment used to extract oil and gas and mine for materials. The derrick is the structure above a well that holds the drilling equipment, while the drill rotates to displace the earth. The derrick may also include pumps to extract the oil or other materials from the well.

Transportation incidents and contact with objects and equipment were the two leading causes of death for these workers.

Maybe I’m trippin but it doesn’t look that difficult after you memorize what needs to be done. No different than doing regular mechanic work. After somebody teaches you what’s up you just have to pay attention while you’re doing it.

I listened to Milli Vanilli today. Does that count as hard labor?
