the citizens of gambia deserve the right to privacy, they deserve due process and protection from cruel and unusual punishment, the fact that people are supporting a dictator that doesnt believe in any of those things while writing essays about those things in the US shows how silly some of yall are

the commonwealth has no power over gambia and never has, i dont think it matters either way if gambia is part of the commonwealth or not, the only thing that matters is the individual rights of the citizens of gambia

and the article clearly implies that the reason for leaving the commonwealth was the commonwealth asking questions about the level of individual rights in gambia

i think there is a disconnect where people dont realize that things like due process and civil rights are universal concepts and that is how you measure leadership
