I think we getting stuck on the use of the word or term “hostage”

Yes no one had a gun pointed at them and was screamed aggressively (although it’s being reported the military police was there)
However, the situation does appear to be like the government was like “Na y’all ain’t leaving yet”
No different from say in school the bell rings and you gotta go but your teacher stands by the door and says “Na y’all ain’t leaving yet”.
From a technical standpoint, no the teacher isn’t holding the students in the class HOSTAGE. But for whatever his/her reason is, they not allowing the class to dismiss until they said so.
It’s as simple as that
