Wouldn't it just be easier to make the voting base more diverse than coming up with these overly specific new rules?

In 2035.....

"House in Blue" was a genre defining, breathtaking film. Winning an astounding 20 awards in total, including best picture. However, throughout the night on twitter it was calculated that the film only had 27.3% of all of its actors in secondary and more minor roles from two of the designated underrepresented groups. The award was stripped and given to "Foundation".

They're trying to force themselves to pick more diverse movies make making to easier to get nominated for being more inclusive. That in itself isnt bad but it doesnt really solve anything. Unfortunately i foresee in increase of combo inclusivity points characters. Bi women of color with an acceptable/semi productive mental disability like bipolarism. And of course, thecoli favorite trope....the sassy gay Black man with the White masculine partner.:francis:

This is beating around the bush though...The problem with the Academy isnt the films or its creators, its Academy.

But this how whites have always "solved" a lack of diversity. The decision makers couldnt possibly be the problem here.

Wow, art being sacrificed for the sake of inclusion and being politically correct is likely the worst thing that's come of this new wave of thinking.

That's terrible

Art was always sacrificed. It's just that before it was sacrificed for cactivism via unwritten rules.

It's like the "diversity for the sake of diversity" bemoaners ignoring the 100 years of "cacity for the sake of cacity" that's plagued Hollywood to the point of normalization and acceptance by the masses.

Obviously making Rooney rules to combat it, isn't the solution. The solution is forcing cacs to give up their power as the 95% majority decision makers of academy awards (i.e. complete diversification of the committee). But why would a white man want to sacrifice power in favor of art?
