New Orleans has the highest per capita murder rate in the country (I think they are at about 100 murders so far this year) while Chicago has had more murders (240 so far) but a per capita murder rate of one per every 11,000 or so citizens.
The issue though shouldn't be about parsing numbers and looking for excuses but instead trying to have an honest discussion about the insane levels of violence and the troubling fact that the majority of these murders are happening to and being perpetrated by black people. Trying to downplay this shyt doesn't make it less of a horror show.

everytime i turn around 5-10 ppl dead and 10-25 ppl are getting shot every weekend there

Hot as hell. Hot temperatures with nothing else but listen to bytch rappers talking about murking folks. Later in the club, the beat is hot bananas :stylin: hoes is dancing, and guy bumps into you.

the rest is history.

i'd bet a years pay that the majority of these killings are drug related.
i grew up in the Bronx when crack hit the streets in the early 80's and i remember
seeing drive by shootings around my way. don't even get me started about the South Bronx.
my grandma lived there and that area was out of control. when i was a kid i saw 3 dudes on one side of the street
and 3 dudes on the other side start blasting on each other. lasted a minute or so, nobody got hit...nobody called the cops either.

a bullet went through the window of the apartment below my grandma and got lodged in a wall.

as far as Chicago is concerned, i'm willing to bet that corrupt cops are flooding the streets with drugs and making money off it.
when murders take place they don't do shyt because the murderers and the murdered are or where customers of the cops.

they need to bring in federal oversight of the Chicago police.

What's with this alderman shyt? Do they actually get anything done? How much is this alderman system connected to Chicago's segregation? How much have Daley 2 and Emmanuel privatized so far?

Those are the only questions I have so far.

Los Angeles, CA
Its all sad. But to get an accurate measure on it you have to control for population, so you can see the per capita. Chi's at what, 2.6 mil and LA (don't know the exact stats for South LA) is 3.7 mil. And LA has less police per capita than Chi as well. Its just other issues going on there right now in Chi. But I agree absolute numbers are still important because we are talking about human's lives being taken, more than often people that aren't even doing nor wrong whatsoever.

Per capita Stockton, currently is outpacing Chi. (Report: Stockton, Calif., has more murders per capita than Chicago - Crimesider - CBS News)

We would have to wait until next year to see how bad it is in each city in total. and if we wanted to be even more specific, the most dangerous or safest for Blacks if you held out the white population data in each city. Damn brehs, these threads are sad.

city comparisons never really work

even if you are comparing per capita

tha highest per capita victims of homicide in Los Angeles are blacks (blacks make up less than 10% of tha population)

tha highest number of homicide victims in Los Angeles are hispanics (they make up more than 50% of tha population)

Chicago has more blacks than Los Angeles per capita, so bringing up tha large population of Los Angeles and comparing it to Chicago is not a good way of comparing crime

you should compare the black Los Angeles population to Chicago's if you want a more accurate way to gage tha homicide rate for that demographic...

comparing a small city like Stockton to a large city like Chicago is tha same thing, Stockton is a very small city with mostly poor run down areas, Chicago is a large city with nice areas, you can't compare tha 2 on a mass scale

a BETTER comparison would be Stockton to tha Chicago neighborhood of Englewood etc...

AGAIN, these comparisons are like apples to oranges, who decides what is a city? tha city council or whoever draws up the borders of a city, they can box out parts of certain neighborhoods and include others, its all just by chance.....

every inner city has homicide, its an unfortunate part of american black ghetto culture.... a cities homicide rates are almost tha highest in "tha hood"

The suburbs
It happens everywhere. Chicago is no different than LA.

Last year englewood and watts both had basically the same murder rate (63 perk 100k for watts, 64 per 100k for englewood) and they pretty much got the same population

Stop it, Los Angeles isn't even dangerous like that anymore? The city violent crime rate has gone down considerably since the riots.
