I've been to Chicago numerous times.. its been a few years though. Great town but on the low I do notice that the residents be angry as fukk. most times for no reason at all.. this is an outsider lookin' in :manny:

This is like Philly a few years ago...hell I wouldn't doubt that with the coming heatwaves that Philly is about to get a little crazy too

Is Chi's clearance rate of solving murders still around 30%? I'd like to see the perp data that they have (specifically the ages). I know most victims are black (unfortunately) but that's also because blacks especially in Chi, live next to each other. I want to see if its a demographic problem - in that males coming of age like from the late 80s, early 90s, and mid 90s there just want to be in the streets for w.e their reasons. Or if the ages of the perps vary from mid teens to above 35. Then its a larger issue and not as specific. Sometimes crime spikes correlate to a new demographic reaching adulthood all at once in combination with a few other things.

These crimes (I know Chi has a gang problem) don't seem to be that much of economic one, but random and violent now (not dismissing the ones that currently are or were before). I remember looking at a local news segment there on the net, where they said the gangs were splintering and that is one reason, but idk.

Sad stories though to see this every week. Even though it happens it other areas the frequency is significant in Chi :to:

Violent Fourth of July leaves 3 dead in South L.A. - latimes.com 3 dead, 8 wounded. might not be as much but this was only in a 6 hour time span :manny:

Its all sad. But to get an accurate measure on it you have to control for population, so you can see the per capita. Chi's at what, 2.6 mil and LA (don't know the exact stats for South LA) is 3.7 mil. And LA has less police per capita than Chi as well. Its just other issues going on there right now in Chi. But I agree absolute numbers are still important because we are talking about human's lives being taken, more than often people that aren't even doing nor wrong whatsoever.

Per capita Stockton, currently is outpacing Chi. (Report: Stockton, Calif., has more murders per capita than Chicago - Crimesider - CBS News)

We would have to wait until next year to see how bad it is in each city in total. and if we wanted to be even more specific, the most dangerous or safest for Blacks if you held out the white population data in each city. Damn brehs, these threads are sad.
