More importantly, the Jets don’t have the personnel to play linebacker in a 4-3.

The Jets don't have the personnel to play linebacker, period.
Okay, So Now What? Do They Trade Wilkerson?

Richardson is not going to get traded, while Wilkerson is playing out his fifth year option this year. It makes no sense for New York to trade him right now, though, given that he’s only due to count for seven million against the cap. And since the Jets could still franchise him, there’s no rush to trade him, either, at least until Williams shows that he’s as good as everyone thinks. Oh, and by the way, teams aren’t in the habit of just letting All-Pro caliber defensive ends just leave in the primes of their careers.

Okay, so Harrison has to be on the field on run plays, and the Jets probably can’t play a 4-3. So what do they do with Williams?

This was the conundrum faced by the Jets once Williams slid to the sixth pick. Do you bypass an elite talent because he’s not a need pick? Of course not! Do you remember Tony Jones and Orlando Brown? Both were above-average tackles, the position of strength for a bad Cleveland Browns team in 1995. The team was hoping to take Simeon Rice with the 4th overall pick in the ’96 draft, but the Cardinals took Rice with the 3rd pick. With the 4th pick, the franchise — now in Baltimore — selected Jonathan Ogden.

As a rookie, Ogden … played left guard for the Ravens. After the season, Baltimore traded Jones to Denver for the 58th pick in the ’97 draft. The Jets could be in a similar situation, and it wouldn’t shock me to see the team try to trade Wilkerson for a 2016 1st round pick (if not more). That’s what you call a good problem.

The biggest problem is that Wilkerson should have been signed already. Now that Williams is here, we're trying to find a reason to NOT play our best player on defense, AGAIN! That's a problem. The message being sent is "don't do too well because then we won't pay you what you're worth." If Sheldon Richardson does well, what would stop Woody and Co. from dragging their feet on his deal? This is what got us in the Revis mess, where we're paying mediocrity first chance we get only to play hardball with our best players.

White would not start over Eric Decker or Brandon Marshall, and Jeremy Kerley would still get his snaps. The Jets desperately need an edge rusher like Beasley, but the Jets would still have rotated him with Pace during his rookie year

1. Pace might not make the roster.

2. in White's case it's similar to the Jets possibly drafting Peat to replace shyt'Brick. Yeah he might not make an immediate impact, but it's about landing talent we otherwise can't get elsewhere. Now the Jets drafted Smith to hopefully have the same effect in case Marshall isn't around longer (and Marshall isn't a long term solution; Wilkerson should be)

I'm betting Stacy turns out to be the starter

There also are questions about how much homework the Bills did on Darby. He said he met with the Bills at the combine and "had a few words exchanged on pro day," adding, "That's about it, really." Combine interviews last 15 minutes, which hardly seems like enough time for the Bills to gauge Darby's character face-to-face. Darby said he didn't even meet coach Rex Ryan until arriving at the team's facility Saturday.

Even with our O-line issues? And how good do you think he'll be? Top 15 QB? Top 10?

It's all about consistency with Geno, but if he plays with Marshall and Devin Smith like he does with a healthy Decker, Geno can be a top 10-15 QB next year. His interceptions should drop to a manageable percentage and his TDs should go up, as they did in the final half last year. The line should improve from last year as well.
