The maudlin pick was blah

Poorer athletes never translate into pass rushers.

Jets should have stayed in their original slot and taken the UCLA kid the Giants too.

I agree he seems more like a charity pick. The player the giants took isn't that good a pass rusher either though

His measurables indicate he'll be successful though.

Let breh play. Call me romantic, but measurables don't tell you everything. And there are no charity picks in the third round. McCagnan and Bowles obviously see something in him.

can someone explain to me why people are acting like WR is where we need help.... lets summarize...

the jets signed decker to a 5 year guaranteed
traded for brandon marshall
and signed kerley for a good price for a viable 3rd option....

unless marshall or decker are somehow not guaranteed... we never needed to draft a wr so early.... leonard williams would have been my pick at #3 too...

I preferred Eli Harold, but he was off the board already. Mauldin is good though.

To be fair, Mauldin is an unfinished product. He started out as a tight end before getting moved to DE. Last year was his 1st year at OLB. So he's still a bit raw. Let's see what he does as he gets more experience at the position.

If he could put it all together, he could be a beast. At the very least another Calvin Pace, which isn't bad at all. He's definitely gonna have an easier time being that he's on the Jets who have a great D-Line

We already had IK enemkapli as a project OLB/Speed rusher.

Maudlin has good bend to get to the Qb but looks like he does take wide turns at times

His 3 come and short shuttle were both bad. These types of guys get exposed at this level where you can't just win off of effort. I think his measurables were the worst for his position at the combine.

We had ZERO SPEED at receiver prior to this To give Marshall and Decker, both possession receivers, space to operate. Just Marshall and Decker would allow safeties to play up. They can't anymore with Smith.

I don't understand why you're confused by that after seeing how everyone here was asking for a speed guy prior to the pick

1. Decker's not a #1. Decker could do more damage when he's not the focal point, a la Denver.
2. Marshall is only going to be here but so long. It would be nice to have someone with talent learn something from him
3. At some point, we just gotta look at Kerley for what he is, and that's a 4th or even 5th WR. He has 7 TD's in 4 years. 932 yards the last 2 years. There's games where all he does is make fair catches inside the 5. If he was gonna be something better than what he is he woulda shown us this already, good QB or not.

Looking at targets, Decker /Marshall/Amaro and when Smith gets up to snuff, should all be ahead of Kerley, and God help him if we find a RB who can catch out of the backfield
