Loved True, for me twas the first album where NL/P kinda perfected the westcoast sound (Tru Playaz, Break Bread, Ain't No Glock...) and mixed it up with some BBTP southern flavor

Staying in the Bay Area meant no BBTP prolly, so no they wouldn't have broken through that big

A lodge of the Saints John of Jerusalem
He apparently helped pretty much everyone during his tenure there, from Mia to Mac to Magic to Gambinos to Prime Suspects to Full Blooded etc

Every Ghetto D song he's featured on had alot of Sleepy Eyed Jones in and on it
I always believed that he wrote P's verses on Only Time Will Tell.

@OHSNAP! I always felt Mac & Fiend should've been bigger than they were. And folks would be surprise bout the behind the scenes work Fiend does. U think they'll ever release the tank doggs album
They were the most talented artists on the label. Hooks, lyrics, concepts, production...they mastered it all. P preferred putting over Silkk tho, for nepotism reasons. Look at how many features Silkk had on ICM, Ghetto D and Da Last Don. All 4 Fiend/Mac albums on the tank were phenomenal, the deep/introspective cuts were on another level

KLC claimed he had unreleased Tank Doggs material in his vault, so it's time to make him release that shyt

True shyt (no pun) so I gotta ask Theres One In Every Family/Shell Shocked vs Street Life/WW3 which you got. I'm goin with Street Life and WW3 those album really showcased the talents of both artists stripped down from the formulaic NL standard of a bunch of features. Also I think Street Life was the perfect ride in the sunset for BBTP as that was the last album produced by them on the tank and its funny there are mo miller features on there.

How would you rank BBTP amongst producers both overall and Southern. It's a strong testament to their legacy as you have 3 phases of No Limit (Bay Area pre-BBTP, NO BBTP era, and post BBTP era) but all folks focus and resonate with is the BBTP era

Very hard to rank, I'd say:
1 WW3 (lyrical masterpiece, minimum of typical NL formula. Mac's flow on this album was ridiculous)

2 TOIEF (so many classic cuts, such a great moody dark vibe)

3 Street Life (this albums smells like the NO. Indeed BBTP's swan song, and such a good one at that)

4 Shell Shocked (brought down by too many stereotypical NL cuts like Nobody Make A Sound or Soldier Party. But it has some of the best songs in NL history: Slow Ya Roll, Be All U Can Be, Can I Ball)

The 96-99 era HAS to be the one above the rest, BBTP as well as DJ Darryl, K-Lou, Mark in Da Dark etc brought the heat usually. You could hear that BBTP were burnt out starting in fall 98 (around the Mean Green and Mia X albums)

However, there were many overlooked/underappreciated projects before (WCBB Vol 1, 99 Ways To Die) and after (Trapped In Crime, Last Meal, Good Side Bad Side, Streets Made Me) that deserve to be heard

Overall BBTP has to be in discussion for best southern producers OAT, I'm sure there are some above 'em (Mannie, Paul/Juicy, maybe Neptunes and Timbaland) but they churned out so many hits and hot cuts within maybe 5 years, it's ridiculous

@OHSNAP! Can you clarify something is that Fiend on the hook of Mac's Can You Love Me? It sounds like him like one if those instances where u try to sing over someone else vocals. I always figured since Fiend was gone they took the hook off but couldnt

Know a dude trying to start a podcast and he's readying interviews with former NL roster members.

- Said all NL artists kept their publishing

- Tank Doggs do have songs in the vault

- Mercedes did not end up as a lawyer. Lived in Detriot but was going to college in Louisiana (Xavier). P heard her sing and signed her right there.

- A-Lexxus was not related to Mercedes

- Mr. Serv-Ons style change was because he was influenced by Mystikal and Busta Rhymes

Don't think so, additional vocals are from Kine, Sons Of Funk and Ms Peaches according to the booklet. I think Mac and Kine are on the hook (tell me why...)
(see first comment)
Mayne, Mac's verses are on another level here

I honestly prefer Shell Shocked and there's one in every family. BBTP are part of the reason why the south is so big now, metro booming, 808 mafia, zaytoven, drumma boy and others can trace their lineage to BBTP along with DJ Mannie Fresh

Sure it's just that WW3/SL felt more like personal projects rather than NL formula, more originality and creativity involved imo. Entire Street Life album was produced by BBTP too
