Eh, I think he does alot of that for show.

He just copied the guys before him (Ali, Mayweather, even entertainers like Ric Flair) and realized that the best way to promote yourself is to act arrogant over the top and make people love to hate you.

Has a bonus effect of pissing off your opponents and making them fight mad instead of smart.

One of my friends said he ran into him in LA and was nothing like that when the cameras are off, so take that for whatever it's worth.
