I agree. Shyt's gotta end somewhere and somehow. Pharrell's just dumbing it down to "keep it real" for us black folks cause he thinks that we're all hood and that's the only way he can speak to us as if we uncivilized idiots. It doesn't matter if Future asked him to write a f*cking 16...

Encouraging young black males to become a product of the prison industrial complex and property of the state...yeah, that's "keepin it real" yeah that's "black" cause now the masses think black=ghetto cause we've been hoodwinked to think that's what "blackness" is in America and that's a joke.

No one wants to take a stand and I don't care what ANYBODY thinks. We need more black men as doctors, scientists, techs, teachers, engineers, not as f*cking dope dealers. F*ck dope. F*ck gangs. F*ck colors. F*ck tricking on hoes and making it rain at the strip clubs. F*ck bigging up criminals and shytting on black men and women getting degrees and in corporate America. F*ck watching the 11 oclock news and seeing us as the faces of criminals and victims and not as success stories...F*ck dealing death and destruction to people that look like you and being a shyt eating grinned house n!gga for white people that'll never accept you and wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire...and most importantly fukk YOU if you disagree.

This is what's pissing me off about hip-hop now. F*ck gangsta rap, f*ck all of this trap/drill/black genocide music, I want to see black men succeeding LEGALLY in America...not trying to be some f*cking caricature.

I'm sick and tired of the circular ass complaints...wanna have cake and eat it too ass nikkas. What is it? Is it oochie wally or one mic? Y'all wanna be seen as kids or MEN?

just say u didnt like pharrell "new blacks" statement and keep it moving. the whole write up of faux outrage

This would be a good argument if Pharrell wasn't rapping about selling drugs before 2014.

did you even pay attention to what he says in his verse at all??? he didnt even talk bout Movin Dope at all. he talked about him & 20 bytches doing yoga naked, & his stupid hat, & how he has some thugged out friends, & throws in a lil bit of good advice bout stunting more sensibly not doing too much, & warning people about drones filming them.

& he floated. I cant hate on this verse at all.

[Verse 3: Pharrell]
Me, I try to leave the best for later
But Pusha tried to put me on the respirator
The old Skateboard P, that's your favorite
Me and twenty girls doin' yoga naked
Frequency high, like a spaceship
She say that she like it and she's been exposed
The Gandalf hat and the weird ass clothes
That's Comme des Garçons and the Buffalo
I know guerrillas with the triggers that's on a banana clip
And packin' with the biggest missiles
These nikkas is knocking over vehicles
These nikkas ain't waitin' just to see nikkas
These nikkas ain't tryna hear plea nikkas
These nikkas like choppin' down trees, nikkas
These nikkas 1-2-3 and they squeeze, nikkas
These nikkas hit the weed then they leave nikkas, gee, nikka
If you got two hoes, you need to let one go
Two Lambos, you need to let one go
All these drones while y'all smoke dro
There's an eye in the sky, I'm tryna let y'all know
Ain't no standards, I'ma set one though
Big ass bag but no man sandals
All that war, we need to let that go
That boom business, I'ma get that ho

I've never used the word c00n before but it definantly applies here. The cat makes the most feel good, positive song of the year for the masses then turns around and hops on an urban song influencing young black men to "move that dope". Why the hell is dude even on a song talking bout drug dealing?? Pharrell has been my boy for years and he always talks about being yourself. Why he gotta shapeshift to appeal to us blacks???
:yeshrug: nobody wanted to listen when black women caught him playing games with the Girl cover, will anyone listen now when it's about black men?

"The old Skateboard P, that's your favorite" -- what does that mean, coming directly before the rest? So he's saying he used to be about 'that life', but now he's settled down and he only wants one whore instead of multiple whores, and doesn't need multiple material possessions because there are two groups of people out there who will take it from you? other negative people and the government itself?

Also, the lyrics aren't talking about positive black men, it's referencing the Chiraq life. Having to have it both ways isn't positive.

Is he directing his verse -- and the way he talks -- to black people, or to the fantasy of black people?
