So does CoDeane face that Dragon Lee guy in this event since he beat Juice Robinson or was there another best of the super juniors winner? :jbhmm:

Moxley wrestled for the US title, not the Super Jr. tournament. That was decided between Will Ospreay and Shingo Takagi.

  • [*]Kazuchika Okada vs. Chris Jericho for the IWGP Heavyweight title
[*]Kota Ibushi vs. Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental title
[*]Dragon Lee vs. Will Ospreay for the IWGP Jr. title
[*]Guerillas of Destiny vs. EVIL and SANADA for the IWGP tag team titles
[*]Taichi vs. Tomohiro Ishii for the NEVER Openweight title
[*]Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Jay White, Chase Owens and Taiji Ishimori
[*]Jushin Thunder Liger and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr.
    [*]Satoshi Kojima vs. Shingo Takagi
    [*]Jon Moxley vs. Shota Umino
Moxley vs Shota is a weird one.

I also feel like they should've just saved Tanahashi vs Jay White for Dominion, but I guess they wanted to draw as big a house as possible for the BOSJ finals.

Every so often New Japan will book a match like that to let a Young Lion get experience and show fire while getting the shyt kicked out of them by a proper vet. It'll be somewhere between 4-9 minutes, and Mox will win in utterly convincing fashion while Lil' Red Shoes shows tons of heart and resilience.

Hell, my first experience of Okada was watching Koji Kanemoto kick the shyt out of him in a match just like this:

Yeah I get it, but if they've got Moxley for limited dates, I'd think they could do more with him on their second biggest show of the year than squash a young lion.

Mox probably doesn't fit into any of their major angles right now, and they want to feature him. :yeshrug: I understand your point, though.

...and who says Mox's dates are as limited as we think? :patrice::jbhmm:

Not really, Umino is their most promising prospect since Okada. 10 years ago Kazuchika got the NOAH feud to show what he was made of and convince everyone he had next once he had his excursion.

Shota doesn't have that kind of feud so having a match with THE wrestler of the moment is huge. Is a very smart way of presenting Moxley too. First he beats the shyt out of a Juice, shows himself as a "different" wrestler and gets the belt. Then he's gonna get more heat by beating the shyt of their best young lion in a decade, while at the same time giving Umino experience and exposure he wouldn't have otherwise. AND they don't shoehorn Mox in a random feud just because he's there in Osaka.

Out of all that card, is the best booking decision by Gedo by far :manny:

Well damn, I hadn't noticed they booked Shingo vs Kojima.

I'm glad they are moving him to heavyweight, were he always should've been.

I wonder if working the BOSJ was a dream of his or something because it's a weird 8 month transition since his debut.

I also find it kinda weird that both finalist of the tourney were guys that they clearly see as heavyweight or at very least "openweights".

But anyways, Shingo and Mox are a breath of fresh air for the heavy division and we'll FINALLY have more options for title defenses in the future :blessed:

Look who has requested all the smoke from both Moxley and Jericho :mjlit:

Minoru Suzuki Calls out Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho - Last Word on Pro Wrestling

“Say what you want to say…@IamJericho,” he said in his tweet. “I want to fight Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley. I want to wrestle them. The world’s professional wrestling fans want to see this. The world is waiting. Listen carefully. Suzuki is Japan.” When NJPW failed to respond to his challenges, he returned to Twitter.

“Don’t give me an answer…New Japan Pro Wrestling!” he proclaimed. “Listen to the voice of the world!”
