I get the intention behind this, but it just isn't practical. Gathering demographic data for public health makes sense, but applying it this broadly ends up looking ridiculous. Asking about a newborn's sexual orientation is pointless, and even the gender identity question feels unnecessary at this stage. This is also why I don't support parents forcing risky surgeries on intersex infants at birth. If the goal is inclusivity or useful data for shaping medical policy, there has to be better ways to do it, because this kind of thing just gives people an easy reason to dismiss real issues.
