This is pretty much par for the course for anyone who’s lost a family member to street violence. I’ve lost two cousins and dozens of people I know (cape verdean living in Boston). I’ve lived through it. Plenty of times. And I’m talking regular folk not super stars.

The first reaction is always that it was bigger than it really was. Some larger scheme. Some larger plan. No one wants to imagine that their family member or friend went out on some petty bullshyt. It’s part of the bargaining after death.
