Seems like the conspiracy theorists have completely hijacked this story. Hasn’t even been 24 hours and it’s the dominant narrative surrounding his death. Kinda crazy how social media amplifies this fever pitch.

So much half assed conjecture about a crime that literally just took place, so people can support their conspiracy views. Crazy times.

What do we actually know as fact so far?

From what I've read, this was something internal.

You can do some of the things he was trying to do and stay low key with it.

That’s what he wanted.

He said “if they kill me, ride for me”

I take that as take the ball and run with it.

Don’t stop.

That defeatist mentality never got us anywhere.

Next Man/Woman up.

Simply put the question anybody has to answer is “are you willing to die for what you believe in?”. We are all going to die, but are you willing to die for your vision, or do you want to run and hide and die years later with the regret of not achieving your vision. I’m really down mentally from this Nipsey shyt, to my core, but I believed in what he was preaching. It can’t stop and it never will stop. It didn’t stop with Marcus, it didn’t stop with Malcom and it didn’t stop with Huey. Black empowerment, ownership and investment. That’s what nipsey represented and will be immortalized for.

This is why I don't believe in going back and helping the hood. I respect everyone that does it but I really feel it's a lost cause to try to invest the the ghetto youth. Nip did all that to only get murder by his own people's.
It’s not a lost cause, it just seems like it is because the majority of disenfranchised black folk scattered around this country don’t move as a collective.

Especially our youth (and even older people) coming from impoverished neighborhoods. They don’t value things like ownership, usually lack a strong foundational family structure, lack any real culturual or spiritual belief, and in turn don’t value the lives of those around them.

That’s why it’s fukked up out here for us.

This is fukkd up...you could tell he was an incredibly intelligent person. Someone who growing up in a different environment would probably be a politician, a local civic leader, the guy who signs your paycheck or represents you in court. But that is life. I'm in Chicago and within the last 10 years we've probably lost 4000-5000 black men to homicide. And yes some of them were sociopaths etc - but many were probably just like Nipsey but unfortunately born in the wrong circumstances. We, and I count myself in this group, are very quick to criticize our fellow black folks for not investing/reinvesting in the hood when they were able to make it out. Now, we may never find out the true motivation behind the homicide, but if it really was just someone hating, can we truly blame those who decide never to go back into the community from which they emerged? That's a very difficult question to think about, especially if/when it's someone else's life that's weighing in the balance. Think about the psychological effects it has on a kids in a community to say that if you're lucky enough to be successful that you should avoid where you grew up (and by extension the people who are still there) at all costs. What does that say to a kid looking to make sense of the world?

He was 33.
The true message of this is that it
Doesn’t matter what’s you do, if you
Are black, your life is at risk among other blacks. You can do it all right, in the eyes of
Some blacks, you just another nikka.
