From everything we've heard and specifically from Digitial Foundry's overview of the system, you either need to be in a very large room (they said it works perfectly fine up to 8 meters/26.5 feet away) or if you cover the entire joycon with your hand or put it behind your back. Really, it's not that big an issue as some made it out to be
just get a pro controller for when it's docked.
