Xenoblade 2 is my favorite Switch game so of course I'd recommend that, but it is a big time investment. I have 220 hours in the game including DLC and there was still stuff I missed out on.
I'd say go with Octopath if you like classic, turn based, more linear (not completely linear) RPGs and go with Xenoblade if you like more a more expansive world with a huge story. Xenoblade combat is like a mix of turn based and action too.

I copped a few days ago, soundtrack is flames
Started with Olberic on the demo and now I’ve got primrose as well, gonna go for tressa and therion next.
Olberics chapter was

It shocked me that they went there with Primrose. The way that scumbag talks down to her had me
Olberic's story was kind of boring/generic to me at first but it really picks up the last couple of chapters.
Alfyn is another one who's story gets better as it goes on. It peaks in chapter 3 though with an amazing boss fight. Thats the strength of the game imo. The bosses are top, top notch. The secret bosses are nuts
