I figure Nintendo will treat Super Mario Party like the rest of their 1st party titles, release them with barebones content then put out (sometimes) free updates for a year.
Hopefully one of the updates is proper online with boards because not a lot of people have friends and family nearby like it's 1990s anymore.
Just got done playing Mario Party with my wife and daughter for about two hours. A friend of mine is coming over with his son tomorrow and we'll probably get another couple hours from it. Both our kids are ten years old. I'd say i got my money's worth seeing as though i've spent this much on dinner any given weeknight, so I'm not complaining. Don't know how much replay it will see outside of these two days, but if you've got kids, it's great for team building exercises. I wouldn't recommend for adults as a party game though.
I wish the mini games were longer, and we didn't really play the board mode much at all tonight. There's tons of modes outside of it, which was a pleasant surprise though.
Thats exactly how I justify my purchases. I got over 400 hrs out of Zelda before I got bored and 200 hours out of oddessy. Probably more than 200 hours out of Mario and rabbids. If I paid $1 per hour I easily got my monies worth .
I don't if I could squeeze 60 hrs out of this game. A couple of the games look fun and I think I'd enjoy them with the kids but then I'm lookin at buying the game and another set of Joycons .thats $120. I dont see it taking off like that.
I saw they have soccer, is there a way to practice or play mini games without the timer? Or perhaps choose like 5 mini games to play in order or random?
I just played a one player game of soccer and wasn't very impressed. Games are 60 seconds with no way to disable the timer.
Outside of the game board option which lasts at a minimum of sixty minutes, according to the game info, there is a Free Play mode where games are endlessly randomly generated, with no tally of W vs L's from as far as I could tell. When the match is done you can move on to the next random challenge, replay, or go back to the game list. Then there's also a best out of five mode where it looked like it you choose pre-selected game circuits a la mario kart.
There's also a world that hosts a best of five challenge which is strictly filled with rhythm games. Another world consists of a rafting game where you play team based mini games to extend the timer in order to make it to the end.
There's no way to adjust the settings on any of the games, and they're all extremely short which takes away a lot of the fun. None of them really felt all that competitive. I haven't played any yet that stood out to me, but they all work pretty well together when taken in as a whole.

I won't cop, but I'm an advocate for fitness based games. I just prayed yesterday for a Konami Mocap Boxing port to switch.

The switch is like my primary form of entertainment on the road.
