You’re thinking of the right one. I think it’s a game that you have to get your hands on to really get a feel for it. The writing is top-notch though. If it ever gets a Switch port, I recommend you take a chance on it.

They tried reviving Star Fox several times and it failed. They don't know what to do with it.

I have a JRPG bias so Golden Sun and Mother would be the two I pick I guess.

F-Zero would have to be very different from Mario Kart. Wouldn't make sense to have two racing franchises that play the game.

The guy who makes Smash Bros. is behind Kid Icarus too I think.

Unpopular opinion but they should stop trying to make Starfox 64 and make another Starfox Adventures or at least Starfox Assault.
