Another class overall means including defense.
The problem with this is, offense and defense isn't a 50/50 thang. I don't think you can truly quantify both ends, in general. The game is in constant randomization. But what is established is, the game is all about getting buckets, so whoever can generate points for themselves or their team, is naturally going to have more impact. Jokic has proven to do this on a greater level than what AD has shown. That's not up for debate.
Jokic is the better offensive player. As far as playoff success AD was only losing to the stacked Warriors and still lit them up. Jokic lost to the Blazers in 7 last year while AD upset swept them in historic fashion.
There were alot of bad teammates and injuries in NOLA too.
You're not telling the full story here.
AD has made it to the playoffs, two times in seven seasons in the N.O.; two 40+ win seasons; 36-win rate per season; one playoff series wins
Jokic has made it to the playoffs, two times in five seasons in Denver; two 40+ win seasons and a 50+ win season; 44-win rate per season; three playoff series wins.
Jokic has led his team to a greater win-percentage, greater playoff-reach rate, and won more series' (all in fewer seasons).
When the Pelicans swept the T'Blazers, they had a great ensemble of defensive personnel to shutdown Dame (which yes, AD played a pivotal part in), with the likes Jrue, Rondo, Moore, Mirotic etc all carrying out this gameplan of cutting the proverbial head off the snake. And you had Jrue and Rondo running the offense for the Pels, letting AD focus entirely on scoring.
Whereas the Nuggets were in their first postseason with young main options, and Jokic had to feed himself, and take care of running the offense.
There a massive gap in their defensive abilities. AD shouldve won DPOY this season. Jokic still gets hidden and exposed on defense. He was a straight up liability for most of the Utah series
Whatever perception you have of Jokic's defense abilities, do you really seeing AD on this Nuggets squad beating both the Jazz and the Clippers?
Do you really think his x-defensive value would've made up for the lack of being able to run the offense and create for himself, which none of the Nuggets players would've aided him in? Do you really think he would've elevated all the Nuggets role players, by feeding them the ball, keeping them engaged, giving them good looks and running the offense at a high level (in spite of the absence of a system) consistently throughout both series', where they would still be in the playoff hunt right now?
