I've never claimed Jokic is a great defender, that is a lie.

Giannis doesn't guard shyt anymore, he rarely shows effort to stay in front of his man; he had one of the worst defensive drive %'s out of all starters last season. He conserves his energy for offense and if things aren't going his way, he switches off on the defensive end. He doesn't take on the main defensive reps for his team and he's not even the team's main rim/paint protector - this has been the case for many years. He'll have one game where he's exerting all this effort on help defense, and then the next game he sleepwalks on that end. He isn't a defensive leader, and really only thrives with great defenders around him.

He has one of the largest wingspans in the league, and can over ground North-to-South as fast as anyone, and yet his contest rate, blocks, steals, deflections and defensive coverage is league-average.

The Bucks went from having one of the best defenses in 2023 with Jrue, to then having one of the worst without him last season, with essentially the same team.

I've outlined to you on why Jokic is a better defender than you give him credit for, and all you could argue back with is minutiae. It's quite clear you don't watch enough Nuggets games, and the games that you do watch, you clearly cherry-pick instances to layer your confirmation bias.

He's a brickwall in the post, he vacuums up any defensive rebound in his vicinity, has a high motor, he has some of the best hands and timing in the league (hence all his steals/deflections over the last 4-5 seasons) and has an incredibly high BBIQ which allows him to call out opposition plays and marshall his players to defend actions (which very few players in the league do) all the way to positioning himself to disrupt plays before they have a chance to result.
