it could possibly achieve key goals
1. as @potier just stated, it may force a pay model/or the removal of the one-year rule
2. allows players to get their fair value at the proper time. alot of these cats from poor economic backgrounds end up getting low-ball deals in the future just cause they couldnt pass on the up-front money in college. its kinda screwed that just because a kid is given 25k to play at a certain school he also has to wear a certain brand on pre-determined contract and have to be represented by pre-determined agency. What if a 4-star comes in and dominates and wants a better agency/sneaker deal. might not be able to happen based on the initial money given up front.
3. might cause a reform in the player/representation time frame, where athletes can benefit off their name in college
so there are some benefits, maybe they come to fruition maybe not....but legal action was gonna happen anyways, especially when it comes to federal institutions, fraud, money laundering, etc...those things dont go together. It wouldnt be as big of a deal if random agents were just throwing cash, but you get corporations and federal institutions involved it becomes corruption
