We both know that ain't happening unless they get Lagos. If they go their own way they're landlocked. They have no industry and will essentially turn to a Niger or Chad. They need the South for the oil. The southern leaders need to use the resources they have to develop quickly and strongly.

Look at Lagos, for the most part, it doesn't need Nigeria. It's standing on its own two feet. When Calabar, Warri, PH, Enugu, Owerri and the rest realize they have to work amongst themselves, then they'll be good. Right now politics even regionally is too fractious.

Southern leaders got NDDC and did nothing with it.

Southern leaders can't even get together to create railways that operates regionally.

Simplistic assessment. Lagos was built into the city it is today from funds during the oil boom of the 1970s.

Also, Lagos’ current debt load is ridiculous. It doesn’t even have a sewer or decent public transit. Lagos is a shythole. Let’s not kid ourselves. It also smells rank.

NDDC is a poor example for you to use. No region that has a regional commission is using it to develop and they won’t allow the South East to have one because they hate Igbos

Southern leaders can’t just commission railways. That’s not how the Nigerian constitution works

When GEJ was in power he didn't do enough to push for infrastructure development in the South-South. I was on ground during his presidency man. The 2nd Niger bridge was one to have quickly pushed forward.

We can sit and debate all of these things but fact still remains southern leaders are just as a much a part of the problem.

Naija brehs, so I'm reading about Biafra and I see that although not officially recognizing them, Rhodesia provided support to Biafra during the Civil War?

The Biafra War was complex internationally. Nyerere and Tanzania supported them as well and the Biafrans used mercenaries that fought against the Congo government in Katanga for training. If Rhodesia did help it was probably because the UK backed a united Nigeria. It wasn't out of altruism.

When you say "United" I assume you mean they weren't rocking with Biafra but they knew the value of the land thus they couldn't allow it to exist?

Sorry if I'm derailing the thread.

Bro that point was moot as hell.

But these elections should have been pushed back further. INEC has to move to electronic voting for the next round of elections.

Already the elections in like 5 states will be postponed.

Yeah UK backed the Nigerian federal government and wanted the country to stay in one piece, for influence and Cold War stuff amongst other things I believe.

Not just that, but Nigeria was their machination. If Nigeria fell then that would be another blow to their already falling status.
