Probably see a second wave of these when the World Cup starts. If you're in NYC, keep your eyes and ears open. Nike doesn't half ass events for the World Cup. They hold viewing parties and sell merchandise including kits which can be customized with players or your name.

Maaaaaaaaan, thing is sold out every where. I really wanted that away one.

I'm curious as to why Nike created the unique jersey for Nigeria and not one of the other nations they sponsor e.g. Portugal, Poland, France, Brazil etc.

Why Nigeria? :jbhmm:

Why give a relatively unknown designer the free reigns to design Nigeria's world cup kit? :jbhmm:

The relatively unknown designer is actually pretty well known in the industry. Some of his work includes

THE BADGE
Starting with NYC monogram (designed by Alfalfa Studio’s Rafael Esquer), I aimed to develop a crest in which each element ties to the City of New York.

My task was to design a shield upon which the NYC monogram rests. Inspired by old subway tokens, I elected to make the shape of the crest a circle. The typeface – Gotham – designed by Hoefler & Co, and based on vernacular signage of New York City (Gotham is also a nickname for New York City). The pentagons represent New York City’s five boroughs, and the orange is the exact shade found in the New York City flag.

As for why Nigeria over other countries? All the big countries get the same treatment and have the chance to veto anything they really don't like. I just think Nike and the designer nailed the kit and whole collection.

From everything I've heard they aren't planning on restocking this collection. Supply and demand will keep these kits a collectors item.

We'll see. I don't foresee them flooding the market, but there could be a quickstrike release around the start of the tournament.

Nike ain't shyt for not making anymore during a world cup year :pacspit:

As someone who works in the fashion industry it's not that simple. The manufacturing aspect on clothing takes months to a year to get done (minus bootlegs which are rushed and usual show with the poor quality.) Nigeria isn't a household name in the world of soccer so I'm sure Nike kept the volume of units much less then they would say a England or Brazil.

Anyone who is curious about the inspiration for this kit it comes from their 1995 one.
