If you don't want your child to listen to Nicki do you protest Nicki, try to get her banned, and complain about the industry or do you tell your child you don't want them listening to her nonsense. Why complain that she exists when you as a parent have every means to explain why what she is doing isn't something you should model yourself after? Everyone here is into hip hop. Im not excited and I'm not mad. You need to calm down and quit making assumptions about me. I am a parent, and I have talked to my daughter about n minaj and the entertainment industry as a whole. The comparison was made with lil Kim and I simply stated why I thought the nicki minaj situation was worse.

Again when we were kids, parents and the media both protested the content of the music, and most of the bad stuff was shown late night. We were not allowed to buy albums with a parental advisory sticker and tupac was not on nickelodeon. We knew it was wrong, and we snuck to do it.

Now nicki minaj is performing with 8 year old girls on good morning America. Even if I monitor what my kid watches she will still be exposed to this fukkary. Nicki minaj and her destructive image is not only accepted in mainstream society but encouraged amongst young women. Like I said, it's damaging and it's a damn shame.

You know that what you listened to in the past was wrong and destructive, easily far more controversial then what Nicki is doing for that matter, yet you chose to do it anyway. Fast forward into the future and you don't even trust your daughter to have to common sense to recognize a character when she sees one. Obviously you know her a lot better then me and you're more aware of her capabilities, but I would think someone old enough to actively seek out her music is also capable of filtering what they accept into their life and model themselves after.

Good points you raise; especially on the sexuality tip. I didn't think about it from the perspective of a parent or how it would effect a female on that level. I'm going to just agree to disagree.
