If you dillute bleach or acid by 2% for long enough, it eventually becomes drinkable. Meaning people concerned with this issues are not engaged in unwarrented concern, they are simply unreasonable in attaching belief that it will happen in their immediate lifetime. Akin to a person concerned with the sun burning out. That is not an unwarrented concern, as eventually it will... its just not a pressing issue for your lifetime.
But if you don't plan against things, by the time those things arise the generations they will actually affect have no recourse against them.
