ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit and Cecil Hurt, who covers Alabama for the Tuscaloosa News, are reporting that University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban has signed a multi-year contract extension to stay at Alabama.
Gil Brandt of NFL.com and ESPN radio host Paul Finebaum reported Tuesday afternoon that Saban had a contract extension on his desk that would increase his salary to $7 million a year.
The news coincided with conflicting reports about the future of Texas coach Mack Brown. Rumors have persisted for months that Texas wanted Saban to replace Brown.
