Bottom line is players are getting a significant cut to their revenue, a reduced salary cap for next year and no longer have ability to sign super long contracts while the concessions made by owners in these last negotiations are negligible in comparison over the long haul.
That being said the story coming out of the last lockout was how the players were crushed yet salaries rose dramatically and given a second chance the NHLPA probably would have ratified that deal permanently
