As far as the Burrow point, it was clear as day that Cincy had them one right out the gate. The wins weren't there, but you could tell what the deal was with him. Having Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Mixon, etc. absolutely helps, but Burrow led that team to the doorstep of the Lombardi with quite literally no OL. We've seen Burrow win games without Chase/Higgins, etc.
Purdy gets flack because Kyle Shanahan has proven that most any QB in his system with a certain set of traits can look worth a damn and secondly, the small sample size we saw of Purdy without his full complement of weapons/pieces did not do him any favors as far as him being that guy.
As far as what was learned:
- Baker Mayfield has quietly shown that perhaps he can hold it down in Tampa Bay for the next 4-6 years.
- The Browns are dangerous, but if Buffalo continues to give a damn about running the ball, they will be the last team folks want to see in the playoffs
- The Falcons are being wasted. To have the talent they have all on rookie contracts for it to look like this is saddening. Arthur Smith might have to go.
- I realize that if Detroit wins 12 games or so, Dan Campbell might be hard-pressed to lose Coach of the Year (and he'd be deserving), but Demeco Ryans is my pick for NFL Coach of the Year.
