Maybe they find the exotic look too perfect looking. Think of IG filters.

Some people like people that are attractive but still look a little "normal" and have distinct features.

Plus, if they have great chemistry, she isn't the type to get jealous at his success, and she knows he's the prize, then he won't give that up so easily.
