NFL refs make $8000 a game. And you must be stupid if you think they only work 20 + weeks. They have to pass tests every 4 months to keep their jobs.

The commissioner wants to have more games, so he wants to have more refs in the pool while dropping their salaries.

The refs are locked out they aren't on strike. How are they extorting the NFL? The league makes damn near 10 billion dollars a year, they can afford it. This is just about the greedy owners trying to stuff more money in their pockets, even at the expense of the players and fans. Drew Brees will make almost 3 million per game and they get pay the refs $36 grand a game? Come on man. The refs are real important in football, often times they decide games base on how well or poorly they officiate it. As a fan, I want to see the best refs available out there. Last thing I want to see is my team get cheated out of a win because of incompetent officials. I also don't want to see one of my team's players get hurt because of poor officiating.

Damn you stupid . The preseason games are horriblly officiated you don't know about boxing and you don't know this . Watch the cheap shots and injuries increase . They only calling basic calls you may think you want that till mike Vick Tom Brady drew brees getting carted off for niccas cheap shotting them . The regular refs do important Job more than rule calling they also keep police games that are getting out of hand with after whistle fights and don't get intimidated by big name coaches and players yelling in there faces

How can you fine players for "illegal" hits in the name of player's safety, then throw bootleg low budget refs out there to police it? This move by the league is a direct contradiction. I can only shake ny head at the pass being given.
