Blatant clickbait article and no one with real knowledge can even talk about it. :snooze:

Yeah, I have trouble believing the figure from the article. If part of the settlement was mutual NDAs, that covers anyone that was briefed on the subject. It wouldn't be all that hard to start narrowing down who leaked the number and drop the hammer.

Unless, of course that number isn't real, and just happens to be one floated out to generate positive reaction to the settlement. And if I put my tinfoil hat in for a second, one could see that as simple bait to draw a statement from Kaep or Reid that would violate the NDA. :mjpls:

The Land That Time Forgot
On a $10 million settlement in a litigation, lawyers usually take one-third/33 percent as their contingency fee.

So as a net, it may be closer to $6.7 million.

However, Kaep could have been paying Mark Geragos firm on an hourly basis, which might be a reason why he decided to settle.

Legal fees are the real judge in a litigation.

I'm still :russ: at the hoops nikkas will jump through to create their own narratives.

When the settlement news first broke, half the posts were talking about, "salute to Kap, prolly got upwards of $80 million or more", and the other half were posts clowning him for settling for pocket change.

The fact that settlement terms were undisclosed was for some odd reason irrelevant. The prevailing sentiment was "I'm finna let my speculation become reality and proceed to clown anybody that doesn't conform to what I IMAGINE might be the truth." :mjlol:

People quick to dismiss this report based on it being the WSJ, but seem to have missed the part of the article where it references earlier reporting done by the WSJ exposing owners changing team policies on the anthem because of pressure from Trump.

I somehow don't think the editoral board said to themselves, "Yeah, let's make up lies and send a poorly sourced article to print because we hate Kaepernick. Nevermind that article we already published a year ago portraying owners as being politically motivated in their efforts to stop the protests." :stopitslime:

Yes they're a conservative news source and generally trash, but being biased doesn't mean they just flat out make up shyt.

Scream "fake news" at unfavorable media stories brehs. :francis: But pretend to be against Trump when he does the same shyt.

I just sit back and enjoy the show...there's no talking to people anymore, social media has people living in their own little make believe worlds out here :coffee:

I also noticed that people conveniently forgot about this when he was trying to get back in the NFL in 2017...some of these cats will get mad at me for even posting this :russ:

The Empire State
will receive less than $10 million to settle grievances with the league, according to people briefed on the deal.

An NFL spokesman declined to comment. An attorney for Messrs. Kaepernick and Reid said they are respecting the deal’s confidentiality agreement.

The league and attorneys for the players did not announce terms of the deal last month when they announced a settlement of the respective grievances. The parties said the agreement was subject to a confidentiality agreement and that there would be no further comment from any party. Details of the settlement have been tightly held among just a few league officials and Mr. Kaepernick’s attorneys.

So where exactly is this $10 million number coming from :patrice:

"...according to people briefed on the deal."

:russ:

Please be advised that, if the "people briefed on the deal" were reporters, then we ain't NEVER gonna know where the leak came from.
